Hail Glorious St Patrick!

Hail, glorious St. Patrick, dear saint of our isle,
On us thy poor children bestow a sweet smile;
And now thou art high in the mansions above,
On Erin’s green valleys look down in thy love.

On Erin’s green valleys, on Erin’s green valleys,
On Erin’s green valleys look down in thy love.

Hail, glorious St. Patrick, thy words were once strong
Against Satan’s wiles and a heretic throng;
Not less is thy might where in Heaven thou art;
Oh, come to our aid, in our battle take part!

In a war against sin, in the fight for the faith,
Dear Saint, may thy children resist to the death;
May their strength be in meekness, in penance, and prayer,
Their banner the Cross, which they glory to bear.

Thy people, now exiles on many a shore,
Shall love and revere thee till time be no more;
And the fire thou hast kindled shall ever burn bright,
Its warmth undiminished, undying its light.

Ever bless and defend the sweet land of our birth,
Where the shamrock still blooms as when thou wert on earth,
And our hearts shall yet burn, wherever we roam,
For God and St. Patrick, and our native home.

And a bonus feast day video, "Give up yer aul sins"  the story of Saint Patrick.

  2. Strange, I wrote a comment yesterday, but it didn't go through, I guess.

    Happy St. Patrick's Day to you and your family, Clare. The kids and I loved that video. We had to watch a few times to catch all the words, but enjoyed every minute!

    Thanks for visiting though.
    (Oh and I've found a place I can get matcha. I'm going to make your green tea ice cream!)

  4. I loved both videos. The Aul Sins brought back some happy memories. Years ago, a very dear friend gave me an audio tape of 'Give Up Your Aul Sins', with various stories, the Annunciation, The Raising of Lazarus, etc. Anyway, it was fantastic and I managed to get a copy for another dear friend, who was a Nun. Well, this Nun friend loved the tape so much that she wouldn't let it out of her sight. She very willingly played it for all and sundry but she would not lend it to anyone, even other Sisters! She said if she did lend it she was certain that she would never get it back! Those two dear folks are gone now, but the happy memories remain. Thanks, Clare and I hope you had a great day yesterday..

  5. Hi Clare,

    Vibrant site! Hope you'll like and support this.

    Hope its something Catholics and all pro-lifers for that matter can train themselves to do.
    I want to introduce to you catholicvalues.co.uk - a new non-profit making price comparison website. All the revenue we make (less minimal admin costs) goes to pro-life charities. So next time you're renewing your car insurance or any financial service for that matter, if you come to our website and choose your supplier there, you'll save money and know that your transaction has triggered a commission which will go to pro-life causes. Simple. No bother. No catch. Please spread the word. And have a look for yourself!

    Kind regards
